Join us in Echo Park on Saturday, December 8 in Echo Park for the annual Echo Park Community Parade!

Celebrating the holiday season, the parade is a historic event that has been put on by a committee of local volunteers for nearly five decades.

Each year the parade features a theme that explores the neighborhood of Echo Park and helps inspire ideas for the artwork contest as well as parade floats. This year’s theme is

“Celebrating the Cultural Diversity of Echo Park”


Join the Parade – submit your application!

The Committee is currently accepting parade entry applications from any organizations, schools, elected officials, businesses and other entities. The event is free for all participants.

Applications are due October 5, 2018.

Street Closure Notice for December 9, 2017

The Echo Park Community Parade Committee, together with support from Council Districts 1 and 13, will be holding the yearly Echo Park Community Parade on Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm along Sunset Boulevard. We hope you will join us for this festive annual event.

In order to accommodate the parade, from 9:00 am until approximately 2:00 pm on December 9, Sunset Boulevard and some adjoining intersections will be closed to traffic, per LAPD and LA DOT.

We are aware that this may inconvenience you and/or your neighbors and your customers. The Parade is an important event for our community and we appreciate your support and understanding. If you have questions or concerns please contact the Echo Park Community Parade Committee at (213) 640-7673.

Meet the 2017 Parade Ambassadors & Grand Marshal

Each year the parade features a theme that explores the neighborhood of Echo Park and helps inspire ideas for the artwork contest as well as parade floats. This year’s theme is “Golden Memories of Echo Park” and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Echo Park Community Parade. The Grand Marshal and Parade Ambassadors nominated and chosen this year with that theme in mind.

Each year the Committee hosts an art contest where children of a variety of ages can submit parade themed artwork. A panel of judges review all submissions and select four winners to be awarded a cash prize and their art prominently displayed in the parade.

Children in kindergarten through high school are eligible to participate each year (submission details can be found here).
